Sure it is safe but I wish we had gotten something different.

1) The crotch strap is 5" long and is not adjustable.

2) It does take two hands to connect the shoulder strap's clips into the crotch clip. You have to hold the two shoulder strap's clips together just so in order for them to be accepted into the crotch clip. This is what I despise about this car seat most.

3) When adjusting the shoulder straps, both loosening and tightening, the fabric of the straps seem to stick on the plastic under the car seat. The buckle back there gets caught and when you think you have the straps tightened you find the twisted buckle is hoarding extra slack.

4) You cannot loosen or tighten the harness while the seat is in the base. So if you are a baby wearer you have to get the whole car seat out of the car, take your baby out, and put the carseat back into the car. It is such a hassle. I admit I did not really do my research well before purchasing this carseat. It is a very heavy carseat. I also have a relatively big baby and I am a small person. The buckle is frustrating to clasp as well and with a crying infant it is very frustrating

Being a first time parent, I had no experience with car seats and chose this for the sake of matching all the other baby gear that I had collected. That wasn't very smart. Being petite, (5'2", 106 lbs) I struggle with carrying this with an infant loaded inside. This thing is H E A V Y!! The key buckle is another annoying feature that I dislike, as it's not exactly the easiest thing to buckle with a wriggly child. I think the key buckle would work if the grooves were thicker and deeper, but since they're pretty shallow, they will come apart with the slightest movement. I really wanted to love this car seat, because I loved the fabric color and design, but it's just a monster to carry around and takes me waaay too long to get my child buckled in.
